Welcome to My Humble Abode

I think that creating a first blog post is one of the hardest things to do when starting a new blog.  I say this because I have been trying to do this for a while, and it is just not working.  It doesn't help that I'm pretty sure that no one is reading, except maybe my parents.  (Hi Mom and Dad!).  It also doesn't help that I'm horrible at introducing myself and making that awkward small talk that occurs when you first meet someone.  But here it goes:

"Hi, I'm Sarah and welcome to my humble abode! (AKA my little space on the internets).  I'm a twenty-something year old coffee addicted runner who is finishing up an internship as a first grade student teacher in sunny South Florida.  Here is a picture of my last week after a 10k race (3rd place in age group and a new PR :)"

Writing that out made me cringe a bit, so I'm going to leave it at that.  The point of a first introductory blog post is for one to prove that one is not a creepy, kitty eating serial killer.  I promise I am not one of those.

Now that I feel I have briefly introduced myself, I can move on to my day!  Today is Halloween!  And Halloween in a first grade classroom is pretty much the best.  My students' excitement was contagious and the day was filled with sugar.  I have a huge sweet tooth, but have kicked my sugar habit (somewhat..) for the past few months because it's like crack to me.  Today there was an abundance of sugar around me and my stomach can not handle it anymore.  I used to eat a bag of Hershey Kisses, tubs of frosting, and bags of gummy bears with no repercussions.  Hopefully this isn't a sign of old age and (gasp) majority.

Anyways, I got to wear my Halloween shirt today which made me happy:

And I got to make spiders with my students (I am 'Ms. S' and my handwriting is not usually that messy.  And those are off brand Oreos - Publix, the best off brand for anything.  With Publix pretzels and chocolate chips.):

And we made some Witches Brew:

Here is the recipe for the Witches Brew that I followed.  Unfortunately I don't know where it came from, but it's super cute.  (I skipped the Red Hots because I'm sure not many 1st graders like them.  And I used Bugles for the Witches Fingers.)

And, that was my day.  Still on the agenda is an easy 5 mile run on my treadmill and then some relaxation.  Stay tuned to see if I return to this blog, or if falls into the internet black hole.
